A very belated update

Well, apparently I just get worse and worse at updating.

Time flies, and as it does, the list of things to update keeps growing.

A quick list of the main updates:

  • In May my appendix burst and I had an emergency surgery to remove it.  That was quite the experience. But, I recovered very quickly and was able to go kayaking the following week. Just don't tell my doctor.
  • Shortly thereafter, we were asked to transition from Pine house to Maple house. Maple is currently closed due to lack of house parents.  Thankfully 3 new couples answered the call- enough to fill the spots of those leaving plus an extra. So, we will be at Maple in a supportive roll to the other houses waiting for another couple to come. We are also in need of Assistant house parents.
  • We plan to move into Maple house at the beginning of August.
  • We've said goodbye to a few residents and welcomed a few more. Our number are now at 6 residents in Pine.

We are doing well. Summer has been extremely busy.  We went from being on duty, a few days off, to vacation, right back on duty for 8 days, and then off for just a few days. Then, we made a long trip out to Illinois for the first time since February.  Went right back on duty, we are off  for 3 now, back on for 5 at Oak, off for 2, on for 5, and then we have 4 days off before we move.  It has been and is going to be a bit nuts.

We loved heading back to Illinois it was good seeing family and church family again.

We continue to see small glimmers of the gospel being planted in our residents' lives.  One resident, in conversation with one of the house parents, brought up a topic from the Sunday sermon a few days before. He had been thinking about it for days, understood it,  and had applied it to his life.  We may not always see fruit but it is moments like that where we do know the gospel is making it's way into their hearts.

Prayers for:
The next few weeks in July. We are doing double duty at Oak house. Which means less time at home to pack and prepare for moving. And, less normalcy for our kids.

Receptive hearts to hear the gosple.

In Christ
~Michelle
